Geriatric Rehabilitation
Addressing
a wide range of diagnoses, our Geriatric Rehabilitation
Programs are designed with the special needs of this
population in mind. We are mindful that more than
any other patient population, the geriatric patient
needs to be addressed on an individual basis, with
a thorough initial evaluation to carefully document
areas of strength, weakness and identify special concerns.
From that point we tailor a rehabilitation program
to suit each individual’s needs and progress
them according to their own capabilities, tolerance
and needs. We are also careful to consider the side
effects of any medications that our patients may be
on, and monitor their blood pressure as needed.
Research indicates, and our clinical experience validates,
the finding that a large percentage of seniors with
conditions such as Degenerative Disc Disorder, Degenerative
Joint Disorder, and Osteoarthritis can benefit significantly
from well-planned physical therapy. Careful increases
in strength, flexibility and mobility can significantly
improve the quality of life for this population.
Common referral conditions
include:
- Degenerative Conditions such as Osteoarthritic neck,
back, knee or shoulder
- Shoulder Impingement/Bursitis
- Total Joint Replacements (Knee, Hip, Shoulder)
- Bursitis of the Hip
- Functional Restoration such as Balance Training, and Fall Prevention
- Rotator Cuff Tears/Repair
- Wrist Fracture Recovery
