EMG/NCV Testing Services
Electrophysiologic Evaluation, more commonly referred
to as EMG/NCV testing, is traditionally used in evaluation
of patients suspected of having a neuromuscular problem.
Although Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common problem
assessed by EMG/NCV testing, it is helpful in distinguishing
a variety of diagnoses, including:
- Entrapment syndromes
- Polyneuropathy (caused from diabetes, thyroid problems,
and other conditions)
- Cervical and Lumbar Nerve Root Injuries
- Other selected neuromuscular problems including nerve
and muscle disease
All EMG/NCV examinations are performed by Matt Hornsby
DPT, ECS. Dr. Hornsby received his Masters Degree
in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama
at Birmingham in 1985. Later, in 2004, he completed
his Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from MGH
Institute of Health Professionals, an academic affiliate
of Mass General Hospital and Harvard University. Dr.
Hornsby was Board Certified as an Electrophysiologic
Specialist in 1994, recertified in 2004 and is one
of only about 125 physical therapists nationwide to
have achieved Board Certified status.
